The primary aim of this bathroom renovation was to replace the shower over the bath with an open-access shower, providing our wonderful Aged Care client with Parkinson’s increased safety and comfort. We reconfigured the layout by relocating the toilet under the window and positioning the shower at the end of the space. By implementing a channel drain, we achieved level access to the shower, effectively minimising trip hazards.
To further enhance accessibility, we installed a wall-faced toilet with a raised pan, making it easier for our client to maneuver. The shower features a sturdy 32mm thick grab rail standing at 1.2m tall, with the top mounted at 2m high allowing for both seated and standing users, and the shower head can slide up and down for convenience. Additionally, the towel rails are weight-rated, doubling as grab rails for extra support.
We also incorporated mixers with longer handles, accommodating users with unsteady hands. The floating vanity, with two drawers for ample storage, showcases a stylish oval ceramic basin that pairs beautifully with an oval mirror. A warm colour palette, complemented by the floor tiles extending to the back wall and the rich timber grain of the vanity, ties the space together harmoniously.
We’re thrilled to have delivered this safe and functional bathroom to our client, empowering them to feel more safe, secure and independent in their home.
